At Holly Trees we have always tried to encourage parents to join our Family Learning group to foster friendships as well as develop their skills. An offshoot from this group has been Holly Hobbies.
Holly Hobbies are a group of parents and support staff who enjoy making resources for the children to use in school to help them with their learning. Parents take as large or small role in the group as they feel comfortable with. The activities include cutting, colouring and laminating, but if parents have a skill or foreign language and are happy to, we would also utilise these skills to help aid children’s learning.
Parents have been involved in making story sacks, maths, literacy and phonics resources and assisted various year groups with large craft projects. Some of the biggest projects have also involved sewing machines, assisting class teachers by helping prepare costumes for school performances.
Holly Hobbies meets every Wednesday in the Small Hall from 2:00-3:15pm. If you would like to come along and find out more about what we do, please just drop in. Alternatively, fill in the form below and we’ll email more information to you.
