Chairman of Governors I enjoyed a long and varied career with Shell and remain very active in the local community. After many years involved with school governance (Secondary), I joined the Holly Trees GB in 2011 and this is my fifth successive year as its elected Chairman. It is a wide remit and perhaps my Chairman’s Statement, featured elsewhere on this website, will give you some measure of the deep satisfaction and fulfillment which comes with my role.
I have been a member of the governing body of the school for 17 years. I have worked as a finance manager for the BBC Radio and more recently as the mental health project lead for NHS Havering Clinical Commissioning Group. I served as a member of Brentwood Borough Council from 1999 to 2004 representing Warley residents. Having a financial background my role on the governing body is primarily focussed on the financial management of the school through the Resources Committee.
I work for a charity providing legally based advice, training and information on special educational needs and the duties of schools and local authorities. On the basis of this, and my longstanding knowledge of the school (I first became a parent governor at Holly Trees when my 16 year old son was a key stage 1 pupil), I was appointed a co-opted governor in September 2015. My areas of responsibility are Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural Development and Special Educational Needs. I am vice chair of the Teaching and Learning Committee.
I am a teacher at Holly Trees and have been since September 2010. I became a Staff Governor as I felt it was important for the staff to have a voice within the Governing body. My role as ‘Link Governor’ is to ensure that all Governors receive any necessary training.
I am a teacher at Holly Trees and have been for the last 19 years. I am passionate about children’s wellbeing and learning. Although I am a co-opted Governor, my knowledge of the school and the curriculum, enhances what I provide and contribute as Governor to the school
I’ve been a Parent Governor since 2012, serving on the Teaching & Learning subcommittee. With a background in IT, I help monitor e-safety at the school.
Outside of governor duties, I serve on the Executive Committee of the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce and serve as secretary of the Brentwood Arts Council.
I started my term as a Parent Governor, and am now a Co-opted Governor; I am a teacher at a local secondary school, but had little experience of primary school beyond having attended one myself! I wanted to bring the experience of a full-time working parent to the governing body, to represent the parents who are unable to meet their children’s teachers at the classroom door.
My role as Governor comprises understanding the financial operation of the school whilst also monitoring and reporting on the Health and Safety aspects. I sit on both the Resources and the Pay Appeals committee.
My background is in Branding, Design and Procurement.
I have been a Holly Trees parent since 2010 and chose to become a Governor to help tackle the challenges that affect all our children.
I work from home as a freelance designer in the field of Architecture, which gives me skills in terms of creativity and problem solving.
Elected Parent Governor
I have been a parent governor (I currently have 2 children that attend the school) of the Governing body since June 2016. I sit as a member of the Teaching & Learning committee and have specific governor responsibility for the Pupil Premium and Looked after Children pupils.
Professionally I am an accredited counsellor and work therapeutically with children and young people of all ages in schools across mid-Essex. I have a particular interest in the emotional well-being of our pupils.
Following retirement as a primary school Headteacher I worked at Holly Trees as Special Needs Coordinator and then supporting classes throughout the school.
I have been a governor for two years and currently chair of the Teaching and Learning Committee, responsible for
I have been a co-opted governor since 2015. I am the Head Teacher of a Havering Primary school and I use this educational experience in my role as Governor.
My son is in Year 4 at Holly Trees and my daughter began in Reception here in 2009 and left Year 6 two years ago.
I am very proud of Holly Trees and, as a working parent who cannot be at the school gates, am glad to offer my support through being a member of the Governing body.
I was elected a Parent Governor when my daughters were in Year 2 and in Reception. I have nearly completed 8 years as a Governor.
I am a Chartered Engineer and work at the Ford Research and Development Centre. I enjoy being outside either in my vegetable garden or going for walks in the countryside with my family.
